BACKGROUND.

Zebrafish infection research has seen an exciting gain in momentum over recent years. Yet, the zebrafish infection model has been largely overlooked at scientific meetings. We therefore would like to assemble the UK zebrafish community in order to develop an interactive zebrafish infection biology network. We are therefore organising a one-day event on April 3rd 2017 to kick-start this network.

Zebrafish infection research within the UK is mostly achieved by a young core of scientists in their first academic or fellowship position. This meeting brings together these innovative, developing group leaders of the future with experienced and internationally recognized leaders to guide the community with their expertise (e.g. Lalita Ramakrishnan, Steve Renshaw, Paul Martin, Annemarie Meijer) and to create a strong community that can push the field forward. At the end of this meeting, we aim to have established a UK zebrafish infection community that meets annually to exchange science and tools, and to inspire national training networks.
